Pearl Peony
I really wanted to paint something low key and quiet. I loved the colors on this Peony. It seemed so subtle yet vibrant all at the same time. I tried a more traditional approach to painting this grouping. Low lighting and values and a gentle touch with the brush. I think the colors and the shadows really convey a sense of peacefulness. I love painting in watercolors. I love the way the colors glow through each layer and fill with light, like stained glass.
All my watercolor paintings are painted on Arches 300# cold-pressed, bright white watercolor paper. Arches paper is archival and acid-free. I use M. Graham and Winsor and Newton's professional watercolor paints. My colors are permanent and archival and will not fade or change color! I will never paint with fugitive colors no matter how beautiful or vibrant they are. It is important to me that my paintings will last a lifetime and beyond with the proper care and attention.
