Botanical Iris
I really love the English style of botanical watercolor painting. I decided to try an Iris painted in this style. I love the glowing colors and the total focus on the flower only. The yellows really glow against the dark and dusky purples. Just focusing on the flower only, really helped me concentrate on the detailed veins and dark shadows. I will have a series of 10 of the botanical style flowers. I love painting in watercolors. I love the way the colors glow through each layer and fill with light, like stained glass.
All my watercolor paintings are painted on Arches 300# cold-pressed, bright white watercolor paper. Arches paper is archival and acid-free. I use M. Graham and Winsor and Newton's professional watercolor paints. My colors are permanent and archival and will not fade or change color! I will never paint with fugitive colors no matter how beautiful or vibrant they are. It is important to me that my paintings will last a lifetime and beyond with the proper care and attention.
